I've been running HomeSeer for about a year on a P75 win 95 box with
about 24MB of RAM. The only times I've had trouble was when the power
failed and there was an error in scandisk on startup..... Never had any
stability problems apart from that, and netmeeting in from normal
machines when need access to the HS management, otherwise use the web
interface. The PC was a freebie rescued on its way to the skip from my
office..... :)

I will probably think about getting an HV when I have the spare cash,
due to the advantages of connecting sensors, IR built in etc, but if you
have a spare PC available, it can form a cheap controller, at least in
the short term.
