One thing to bear in mind Tony:
mini-timers and such can only address, say 1-8 devices on a single
housecode,
so if (before you go Homevision/CM11+Homeseer) you want to have things
happen automagically
(like lights coming on at the same time each night for instance) it's worth
"saving" the lower
numbers for those devices.

also, renumbering is no big deal.. we are talking a couple of dozen modules
at most, yeah?

What I have settled on is..

"E" is downstairs, "F" is upstairs
going further E1-E4 are the living room E5-8 is the dining room/kitchen
F1-4 is the Bedroom, F5-8 is the office.

I am reserving B for "building" X-10, things like LW10s when I
get round to
them..

I reckon the best thing is to not worry about the "ultimate"
scheme, but
just set some things up, and then change the modules as you figure out what
you yourself like and use, and what is effectively unused!

Ian.

Being new to this X10 stuff, I'm a little concerned that I'll get so
far with it and then realise I'd done something really stupid & have
to re-set every unit in order to come up with a suitable setup.

So I thought I'd ask the experts :)

Is there a 'preferred' approach to setting up X10 devices - eg All
lights upstairs on 'A', or all lights & appliances in the Kitchen
on 'B' etc? or is it just a case of mix 'n match what you like where
you like coz you're gonna need a HV controller anyway & it doesn't
care where you put the devices because it can address all 256 anyway??

cheers,

Tony
