I agree that the Socket Rockets are nowhere near the level of
functionality that they ought to be, but if used with a normal switch
connected to a controller (for examle HV or Comfort) or with an RF
switch and receiver then it could have some uses.

For example it would allow existing switches to be used (like nice
brushed aluminium ones) with connection going back to HV where the
X10 command was sent to toggle the light. This would actually mean
that HV would always know the status and the switch would always
behave as expected (unless of course HV failed, but that *never*
happens).
