If I can stick my oar in here for a moment.

I use a piece of software called Hamster to handle all my e-mail and
newsgroups, one of the nice things about Hamster is that is allows you to
create local newsgroups, and filter messages into them when they're
received.  This is what I do for this mailing list - I simply tell Hamster
to bung all the ukha_d messages into a local newsgroup, and then access
them
in exactly the same way I access any other newsgroup.

Means that I'm not bothered by e-mails every 20 seconds, and also handles
the threading issue pretty well.

FWIW, I'd vote to stay with Yahoo - I've never noticed a particular problem
with it.
