They arent that hard to configure
I've doneit a few times on non plug and play boards
the trick apears to be that you have to keep adding new hard ware
so if you have a four port card you add four lots of hardware then jst
configure the irq  and the Input/Output Range
but that is all in the leaflet which should come with the board

This seems to be the case from Win98 through 2000 to XPpro
