Whats the difference between the silver and the gold cards?

They also have a connector socket for an external Ariel - although I
don't know how much one is or how it would improve the range.

The ORiNOCO cards are pretty strong as the metal shell of the PCMCIA
housing extends to the end of the card ... most others have a weak point
where the aerial joins the card.
