Re: OT : Plumbing help as well
Geraint,
If you want a very powerful shower but don't want any header tanks you
could
either get a large combi boiler which can heat at least 15 litres/min of
hot
water (approx 30kW+) or get a mains pressurised conventional heating
system
with unvented cylinder.
All combi boilers restrict water flow rates in order to heat up the water
to
the desired temperature. So in the winter months the flow rate will
drop
due to colder water entering your house. ISTR that combi flow rates
are
given at 35oC temp rise. You'd need a very decent (expensive) combi
if you
want a very powerful shower.
If your cold water mains pressure is good, then if you get an unvented
cylinder (150 to 200 litres) you'd get lots of hot water at mains
pressure.
If your water pressure is low then you'd need to fit a booster pump.
Either
way you'd get a powerful shower. The cylinder should reheat in about
20
mins. Also, with a cylinder, you'd have the advantage of an
immersion
heater - so if the boiler ever packed up you could still have hot
water.
Regards
Simon
