RE: Home networking without NetBios

Probably, :-)

I have had to install NetBUEI as a protocol on XP to get it to see other
machines on my Lan.

Following on from earlier posts - I think that the answer may be to remove
this from my machines, and then reboot them all? - ensuring that netBIOS is
checked in the TCP/IP options in XP / Win2k.

Am I somewhere near the answer?

Daniel

Could it be that our friend is confusing NETBUEI with Netbios?

TCP/IP is so easy with XP that there is no real need for netbuei - it
doesn't perform as well anyway.
