Chris,

Im using squid at home for the same function and Im using acls to handle
access to squid via login/password.  The only downside is the base64
encoding and no encryption on the passwords but I change them regularly.
Obviously with the size of your setup I doubt that's so straightforward ;-)

Yeah - best thing is squid conflicts with what we run on the servers but
theres a way round it but its a big hassle, security is the biggest as you
cant let an open proxy server on the net :)
