This will hurt (my wallet)

I joined the list a month ago and asked about lighting automation.
I have now done a bit more surfing and have decided that I want to go
beyond automating lights (Don't tell the wife). The big problem is, I
don't know where to start or how to implement the ideas that I have.
Can anybody tell me where I should start look or provide advice.
Here's my idea

=B7      LCD screens in the kitchen and bedrooms t= hat can be used to
access the internet or computer and also watch TV, video,DVD.
=B7      Hardwired infrared control.  &n= bsp;         (KEENE, seems to be
an affordable solution)
=B7      LAN        =               &= nbsp;        (No idea what I'll
need)
=B7      Video distribution    = ;              (KAT5= )
=B7      And don't forget the lighting controls. (= I was thinking X10
but now I'm not sure)

I know to some the solutions are simple, but I was originally only
interested in video distribution and I found that too technical.
