RE: OT Sky and Irish HA suppliers

Thanks Jonathan and all the others who replied, just a quick note to tell
you the results of my deliberations and what I have found out about running
sky/tivo in Ireland....

Apparently Tivo support the standard Irish Sky line up in its guide data so
one of my issues is completely resolved. Also there is a number for a uunet
(I think) POP in Dublin which will allow me to download guide data, it isnt
a freephone number but at least I wont be paying call charges to the UK.

So I will be going for an Irish Sky system as I don't currently have any Sky
equipment.

I did find out that you can buy a UK sky box which is completely free of
contract and does not need to be connected to a phone line. This is
officially OK by Sky although they don't really promote it. So assuming you
have a UK address you can use you could have either  a UK Sky Subscription
or a BBC FTA card and use your box anywhere you can pick up a signal.

Jonathan I haven't found any HA suppliers in Ireland although I did see a
number of home networking companies and lighting control companies at a
builders show at the RDS. I am relying on stuff I already have and items
brought from the UK.

Thanks again  to all who responded.

Regards
Mick

  Hi Michael,
We moved to Co. Mayo in September. We are still using our UK digibox
with a larger dish. The only drawbacks are not being able to order pay
per view films and not having the Irish TV channels.  Meridian News does
not really make much sense out in the West of Ireland, but I suppose it
would keep your Tivo and Sky channels compatible.

You can manually add other channels to the digibox. There is a list of
  all channels at http://www.lyngsat.com/dig/skyuk.shtml
Have you found any HA suppliers out here?
