I have recently fitted some to my side opening doors. I spoke to a
company
called Gate Systems 01488 649 071, www.gates.uk.com  they are a
distributor
for BFT gate Automation. They gave me all the technical info required
and
recommended a complete kit which included safety sensor, remote
control,
actuators, and deadlocks. They are worth a phone call as it saved me
hours
of messing around with motors, rams and assorted connecting devises!!

We have a double garage in an old barn which has side hung doors, does
anyone have any experience/recommendations for adding electric openers
