RE: Tapes to MP3?
What ever floats you boat, frankly... Just wanted to clear things up,
that's
all.
And you are probably right... how good can the quality off of a tape
be,
anyway?
That is of course discounting high-quality (usually Metal) tapes, since
the
quality of a Maxell MX-S tape and my Nakamichi deck put together can be
mind-blowing...
Can you tell I used to be an old Dead-head taper guy? :-) I spent far
too
long worrying about nuances like this in the past...

You're probably right. I don't know a lot about the physical side of
this sort of thing, which is why I put "I believe". I've probably
been
doing the wrong thing for years. On the other hand, it worked, but I
have no idea if the quality would have been better doing it your way. I
wasn't expecting great quality off tape anyway, and it seemed pretty
good.
The only other thing about doing it my way is simplicity. I simply put a
switch on the line out from the amplifier, so I could choose to send the
signal either to the tape deck or to the soundcard. Then all I had to do
was switch the switch to send the signal to the soundcard, whether I was
ripping vinyl or tape.
Cheers,
Bruno
