I had an On-Dodgy box in my bedroom in my last house.
When I moved to my new house two years ago it wouldn't pick up a signal
so I cancelled my contract.
After a dozen or so phone calls a man in a van eventually called to pick up the box NINE months later!

I suppose I could have kept it and they would never have cared but it
was no use to me at my new house.
It would probably be more hassle than it's worth to try and collect the
old boxes
And what are they going to do with them once they get them - it's not
like there is a big market out there for second hand boxes.
After collection, refurbishment and redistribution costs I doubt there
would be any profit margin left on them.

Ignore all correspondence and wait until they threaten you with court
action then insist they send someone to collect it so you don't incur
any costs.  Eventually they'll give up or you can string them along until there is a nice shiny new box on the market for about the same
price....

There was quite an interesting report and commentary on 'you and yours'
on Radio 4 today - the guy being questioned about this (BBC I think)
said that most people probably wouldn't send their boxes back or pay
=A340. He suggested sending a token payment of =A310 as it's unlikely they'= d
sue for the remaining cash!

They also stressed the wording of the statement that said something like 'people are INVITED to pay for or return' the boxes. Their commentary is that the receivers are just trying to show that they have tried to
recover some of the money in the million boxes out there. What they
would do with them if they did get them back is questionable (some boxes 4 years old, missing parts, damaged etc etc etc).

This is all subject to my memory of the programme while listening to it
in the car of course!

Paul.
