Here in NZ when I got sky installed the guy was insistant that he
connected it to a phone line. so I let him wire it into the phone line.
He was a bit pissed off to say the least when he connected it to a phone
and found that the line was dead.

Thats when I say that the only phone that works is the one in the shed
that is the home office. He was not ammused :)

Do they require that you maintain the phone line in an operational
state? What if you disconnect it because you have just got a new mobile
with a million free minuites a month? Surely they cant requre that you
purchase a service off someone else.

Second point. What if your phone line is too crap to support a data call
on it? will they make the telco fix it on your behalf?
