Re: Running RS232 over Cat5



I wire all my RS232 -> Cat 5 in 586B wiring order (as per my patch panels)to
keep things simple and easy to remember.

Pin 1 = w/orange
Pin 2 = orange
Pin 3 = w/green
etc.

IIRC Pin 9 is only normally used for "on ring" so doesn't matter if left out.

This has worked fine for me for all sorts of devices e.g. PalmV, LCD diaplay
and Temp board.

Of course YMMV!
