I now have a PC connection kit for my Powermax unit.
The board which fits inside the Powermax consists of just 7 components. A
MAX232 chip and (drawing on my extensive knowledge of MAX232 circuits :-))
what
I think are 6 capacitors. Being so small the circuit looks more complicated
than it is - I might have a job working out how it all connects
together!
Supposing I can work it out, the board clearly has a copyright mark on it.
Where do I stand on posting details of the circuit?
I had hopes of 'snooping'(?) the serial protocol and writing a HomeSeer
plugin
to communicate with the unit. Sadly the Powermax needs to be in installer
mode
to do PC comms :-(
Someone asked where I purchased the 'kit' from when I mentioned it in a
previous post. It came from Gardiner Security. The local branch is only 5
mins
>from
Gardiner have consistently been cheaper than other suppliers so I have
asked
for a price on the new remote keypad. I don't want one ATM but thought
others
on the list might be interested. I'll report back.
Justin.
