I think the main idea is to get rid of that flippin annoying 'red dot'
for interactive services. However if you have pronto I guess you could
program a macro that does that for you while using your AV kit. (Not
tested or tried my theory though!)

Rob, I don't have a plasma, but I have one of these:

It sends backup command every few minutes, which removes the anoying red
dot.
