    Not all ADSL requires a 'BT' line.  However, in the context of the
question this is true.

     For business broadband the company I work for (Easynet) does ADSL
and SDSL which doesn't require a BT line, and doesn't use BT Ignite
for the supply.

      Because it isn't tied to BT other rates are available, up to the
maximum ADSL rate of 8Mbit/sec.
