Thanks for all the replies on this.



I was filming in Coventry today and managed to get into Maplins (just
like a sweet shop!). I got their remaining stock of the converters.



The question is - I only need 3 of the connections RX/TX/GND but for
future compatibility which of the 9 connections should I fit onto the 8
cores on Cat5? Oh, and is there any standard for wire numbering, or is
it a non-standard thing to do anyway?

The RS product codes are 382-2689 for DB9 plug type and 382-2695 for DB9
sockets.  Got some last week, so still have the despatch note on my
desk.

I believe that there is a pin out guide at the link below but can't
check
as our web access is down.
