I think it comes down to way you ask something. If the immediate 
reaction to something like this is "Isn't it expensive?" then
that 
doesn't really help anyone and it could put suppliers off from 
advertising.

If you had said something along the lines of "How does this compare
with a typical delivered price on a personal import?" then you would
have got the response you were looking for and I don't think anyone 
would get upset.
