Hi all

I just thought I might suggest that if the serial route is taken then why not use the power line to send the data. Then the only connection to the display is to plug it into the mains, everyone can use it and it does not use up all the cat5 points. It also means that any number of units can be added without trying to multi drop the serial line or have many serial ports. Please do not think of the power line as in "X10", I use it and hate it, it was designed in the 70's and is outdated and slow. More modern equipment is far more resilient and much faster. I am very busy at the moment and have been doing a good deal of research in this area. It looks as though the project is moving at a fast pace but if you decide this as one of the options I may be able to help at a later date. I hope you didn't mind the idea.
