Hi,
As someone who has fallen into this trap myself here is a quick and
easy
mechanism to avoid posting to a list accidentally, aimed at Outlook users
but
should work with appropriate changes for most email
clients
In Yahoo Groups set it up so that you have a unique email address that you
use
for posting - not the one that you use normally. Then in Outlook create a
new
account for your smtp server that uses this address. Not the default
account. Make sure your incoming mail (POP etc) comes into your
default
account - even from the group.
Now
when you
send or reply to the list you need to click the down arrow at the side
of
the send button and select your new 'lists' email account and the email
gets
posted to the list. If you just click send or reply to a message then the
message will get sent to Yahoo but the senders email address is not
registered
and it gets bounced back to you. I know it's one extra step but actually
its
only a click and drag instead of a click. This extra step
reinforces your
intention re posting to a list.
If you post from several places or use several different addresses set up
on
Yahoo this will need a little thought. e.g. from work you may only be able
to
use one address.
