Ian,

I think you may have misunderstood my original post. I can see no
problem with designing and implementing a distributed architecture to
support the display-only architecture that has been discussed so far.

My point was that through implementing a server-centric architecture
the long-term evolution was limited - it essentially becomes a closed
system. I was not suggesting that the overall design should encompass
a complete HA distributed architecture from the outset, only that
nothing should be done to rule it out, and I do understand the
implications of this suggestion - I make a living designing and
implementing distributed systems on a much larger scale :-)

You're right though - most group projects fall by the wayside somehow
or another, more often than not through being over ambitious. The
simple design brief (display, look -no- buttons!) at least gives this
project a fighting chance...
