Not quite, IME.

Although WiFI guarantees inter-operarability of non-encrypted links,
it does not specify how the key is mapped from the end-user GUI to
the on-air WEP key for encrypted links. This means that when
configuring an encrypted link the same key phrase will not
necessarily allow kit from two different manufacturers to inter-
operate because the pass phrases are converted into different keys!

I managed to resolve this problem eventually - getting Compaq and
Orinocco cards to interoperate - but it was an extraordinarily
painful experience.

If you can live without WEP you will have no problems. You may not
have problems with WEP, but it can't be guaranteed. If WEP is
important, check that the configuration GUI on all clients allows you
to enter the WEP key directly in hex -- this /should/ circumvent the
issue.
