Let me add my recommendation to this. This is a stellar processor, at an ex= cellent price. (ie - it's what I have, at rather less than I paid second-ha= nd a year ago.)

However, I would add a word of caution on the upgrades. The 7.1 / THX / DTS= / DD revision is the FINAL revision for the 565.

The 561 is a subtly different model, incoroporating more input switching, a= nd has had more recent upgrades. It also has a faster core processor, and i= s likely to continue to be upgradable. The quid pro quo is that the 565 has= subtly more options than the 561 for operation in an _8_ channel setup.
The 568 is the current replacement for the 565, and is, again, based around= a faster core.

However, at this price, it's a definite "buy" recommendation - wi= th the normal proviso that I'd never buy s/h hi-fi without actually listeni= ng to it first :-)

If you are in the market for a surround sound processor (note this does
not have any power amps it is a processor only) this is a bargain. Don't worry about the latest software bit - upgrades are freely available on
the Meridian website anyway.
