RE: Displays round the house.

I was thinking of having a central web server...

The inputs: The various "info source" plugins
The outputs: Multiple LCDs/VFDs, potentially with different resolutions
The triggers: "Events" like phone rining, doorbell rung, PIR x triggered

The web interface: For each output, trigger status (none, trigger 1, trigger 2, etc...), define which inputs would be displayed, and what display characteristics would be used.

Eg:

Bedroom Display (4x80)

      NORMAL:
Display date, time on line 1
Display room temp, external temp on line 2
Display # unread emails on line 3
Display news headlines on line 4 (scrolling)

      TRIGGER 1 (Phone Ringing)

Display CLI of incoming call on line 1
Display subject of last email from person making call on line 2 (scrolling)
Display date, time on line 3
Display news headlines on line 4 (scrolling)

Kitchen Display (2x80)

      NORMAL:
Display date, time on line 1
Display room temp, external temp on line 2

      TRIGGER 1 (Phone Ringing)

Display CLI of incoming call on line 1
Display subject of last email from person making call on line 2 (scrolling)

project LCDProc (lcdproc.omnipotent.net)
