If I understand you correctly a basic hifi amp will not have digital
inputs, a AV amp will have. The only hifi amp that I know of with
digital inputs are the Meridain and Tag ones but that are just a little
expensive

Basically hifi amps are not designed to take a digital input as there is
not the need, the D/A conversion is usually done in the CD player or
with an external DAC.

recommendations?

Now that I've received my 2nd Audiotron it will be going into the
bedroom.

I've got two options as to what to use with it:

(1) active speakers - not ideal as the analogue output on the Audiotron
isn't the best.

(2) low-end end amplifier (remote control, optical digital input) &
speaker package.

Anyone got any recommendations?

All the basic amps I've looked at on Richer Sounds site don't have
optical inputs.
