Just thinking. My server is in Node 0+
(the
loft) plugged into an AM12. If the machine hangs I can turn the AM12
off
and thereby reboot it.
Now I've since acquired a UPS that I want to
protect the server and log power levels. Trouble is if I reset the
AM12 it
will just make the UPS beep and not reset the machine.
When you trigger an AM12 you get a hefty click
which implies a relay. I was wondering if I could connect the relay
side
of the AM12 to the reset switch of the PC, thus making a remote finger to
press
the reset button. I first though about making a plug with a mains
operated
relay in that I could plug into the AM12 socket but then thought that this
is a
bit overkill when theres already a relay being triggered.
I suppose theres mains voltage on the switch
terminals of the AM12 relay by default so I would be careful - would have
to
isolate all but the coil from mains - any one tried a modification to
do
what I'm asking - or anyone doing anything like that or come up with any
other
solutions?
