RE: X10/Room Occupancy/SWMBO acceptance

Tony,
Been looking through your post on this topic. You can achieve what you
expect using simple flags.
Lets take the bedtime routine as an example. Lights can go on and off
with a Homeseer macro. All fine and dandy. You problem arises when SWMBO
goes to bed and 'The House' doesn't know she has gone to bed. You can
assume that she has gone to bed by certain criteria but the simplest way
is to specify the fact and report it to 'The House'.
Lets say you set the following criteria means SWMBO is in bed.

After 9pm (assuming Nightime) [Flag1]
SWMBO turns on HER bedside light = SWMBOinBedFlag = true
HER Bedside light has been on for more than 2 mins (assuming she is in
bed) [Flag2]
If HER bedside light is off and Flag1 and Flag2 are True then run
Bedtime but don't turn on any lights that will waken her.
All of this can be done easily within Homeseer and SWMBO does not have
to touch any buttons.

The big flaws are;
1. It is after 9pm and she spends more than 2mins looking for something
by her bed.
2. she goes to sleep without turning on the light because there is
enough ambient light available at the time.
3. She goes to bed before 9pm.

It is easier if 'The House' knows if someone is going to bed or not for
automation to work. Your lights will still work independently of 'The
House' and its flags/logic. Does she say goodnight to you? If so then
you hit the pronto button for her or else let her turn on the lights in
the bedroom herself. When you go to bed AFTER her you run a slightly
different Homeseer macro/event that does not turn on the lights that
will wake her.

I don't see how hitting a button downstairs to indicate that you have
gone to bed is any more difficult than fumbling for the bedside light
switch when you get into the bedroom.
