Sunday HA Session

A rare thing occurred! I got a few hours off work to play with some of
my HA toys! So thought I would post a VERY brief report!

AUDIOTRON
Actually had time to connect mine up on Sunday and I have to say from a
brief play it seems EXCELLENT. I was very curious as to the sound
quality of MP3's and the Audiotron.
I connected it up to the following:
TosLink (Optical) to a Cambridge DAC.
Arcam Alpha 5 Amp.
RTL TDL5 floor standing speakers. (Big bold if not a little ugly!)
Played a cross selection of music types from MP3's at 128kbit and have
to say that the sound quality was not at all bad. A little lacking in
clarity and base definition was a little muffled but hey 30,000 songs
and I've got TWO! When I've got some time I'll rip some CD's as Wavs and
compare the difference.
But up there in the looovely list!
TECHY QUESTION: I got it working fine BUT I cant get the set-up program
to find my AT? I can access my PC shared files and host PC no problem
both with a static or dynamic IP. I can ping the AT from a networked PC.
But the AT set-up utility refuses to see it. Did not have any time to
investigate.Though I would mention it in case it was something
silly.Cant access the web interface either presumably for the same
reason?

WIFI
Again a Tony bulk buy master piece! work a treat.!

Clipsal C-Bus
Bloody Hell! (Ooops sorry should not swear in public!) This is the
ultimate. Electricians came over the weekend and wired up my first 8
zones in the lounge and dining room. Works a treat! Currently controlled
by a single C-Bus switch which is in the WRONG room but hey just
switching zones on and off by the din rail module buttons was enough for
me! (Pretty flashing lights have always floated by boat!)
Just as a side note it is worth knowing (For those considering C-Bus)
that each zone can only take a 1amp load (Aprox 230-250v) so you can't
ram to many lights on a zone. Had not seen this point in any sales
documentation (Although I could have missed.) so had to re-wire a zone
of 14 wall washing halogens! (Oooops) Luckily every load point is wired
back individually to a RB4 junction box so it was not a problem. Could
have a been a bugger though!

Many Thanks
Rob

Rob,

Glad you like the AT.

No it's not.  They took out HPNA coz it's too much hassle and expense to
get
approval to connect things to the phone systems in Europe - that's what
they
told me anyway :-)

Rob - it's _30_ thousand, not _3_ thousand!!!

Join the support list and suggest this.  If enough ppl (ie more than
one)
want it then they are usually happy to add things in....

No, coz the European ones don't have hpna!!!

Ummm...there's an option on one of the menus (from the front panel, not
AFAIK in the web interface) to change the LED intensity.
But if you want to go for a more permanent solution then go ahead :-)

A misprint.  Not read manual but trust me, it is about 30k songs.

A self prompting toy :-D
