Yes,

Hardware required for each screen
Palm/Visor/Cleo/Treo WITH serial lead or cradle
Siteplayer with cat5 filter
5v PSU or cheap and cheerful psu with a regulator
small bit of electronics (1 chip, few capacitors, a diode) cheap bits
Box whatever cheap abs box would do

Software
Free when finished or it might become beer-ware

You will of course need a 24/7 PC to run the server software ;-)

Palm V on a cradle works great( and looks great) as the cradle hotsync
button becomes another configurable hard button.
