RF may be useful for some but next to useless for me as I line in a 270 year old
house with stone walls so thick that nothing get's through unless I have an
RF/X10 transceiver in every room.

I thought you asked for a wish list, is that not what Tony gave you ? and by the
way spot on for what I am looking for particularly light and socket
replacements.

Sorry you seem to have missed the point!

I am talking RF (radio frequency)only signalling to a X10 transceiver.

So they are small possibly battery driven interfaces.
