Thanks Justin, it's nice to know that the simple approach works, however
my problem is a lack of skill on the Tivo/linux side rather than on the
PC side (though some would debate this also!).

ATM I have a VB .dll I can use to send a message to a TCP port, to be
picked up by YAC on the tivo (only tested with the YAC client for
windoze so far, but confident it works).
So when the phone rings, the YAC client will display "Answer the phone u
lazy git!" because Patricks Meteor plugin for HS is capturing the ring
event.
Due to my lack of knowledge of programming HS, I don't _yet_ know how to
actually extract the phone number from the CLID info.  Once I can do
that, Tivo should display the number.
After that, it's a matter of a lookup somewhere for a name to go with
the
number.....
