Nik,

The RIO`s have an in-built amp. For me, this means i can put one each 
in the kitchen and master bedroom using the internal amp and one each 
in the living and kids room using existing hi-fi.

The Rio`s are no longer made and are increasing in price on ebay to 
around 170$.

So although the hardware has stopped being developed, the software 
development is VERY active right now. The first software hack was for 
a web interface to the box as the screen on the rio is unusable 
unless your actually at the unit.

Jreceiver is an excellent packackage and allows streamed internet 
music to be sent to the Rio.

Since then, there have been two new clients developed (all free) to 
allow the Rio`s to tune into the internet streamed radio directly.

Finally, work is in progress to have the clients support FLAC 
encoding. This will put the Rio way ahead of the Slimp3 or Audiotron 
unless they are going to do the same thing.
