No - it's specific..

It uses the Outlook VBA objects, so needs that (programmatical - not home) automation interface...

It uses the MAPI namespace within that object, so needs MAPI not IMAP :-(

Hmmm..... more to do, I feel.

Paul,
The Outlook plugin was written for two reasons.
1: 'Cos it did what I wanted :-)
2: As a proof of concept.

I need to make it, not a VBA App in the Outlook context, but a standalone VB app that talks MAPI directly. (So I can support the port listener for "heart beat" compliance.)

If that happens, then it becomes a "mini app" that could (for a single user) run on the eMail _server_

I don't know if MAPI allows concurrent connections from different apps to the same server as DIFFERENT user context. If it does, then multiple copies of the app, one for each user, could run on the server. (Paul G - do you know this?)

Mark,

thanks for your answer, now I understand (i thinK!), out of curiousity does this mean it is actually an IMAP plugin capable of interogating any IMAP mail box or server or is there something specific to Outlook/Exchange in what you have done??

Paul
