or 4. as stated elsewhere use a tini board.  the systronix boards have all
four serial ports available (i think) and the tini supports ppp out of the
box.  a little web proxy on the tini and youre flying.

I see 3 options

1) Multiport RS232, on a UNIX box
2) RS232 to USB conversion
3) Use of a RABBIT to provide an TCP/IP gateway of some sort, maybe not
true PPP - Ethernet.
