OT: Very simple electronics question..

I have an input, which is 40 pins. A

I wish to switch between 1 of 2 ouputs (B and C)

The circuit needs to be quite small, and the switch will be hung from a
wire
to be mounted on the external of the case.

Is there a simple standard way of achiving this? Trying to remember back to
electronics at school, isn't there some simple tracing procedure with a
certain type of material that then gets treated in some way?
