Re: HV MULTIZONE IR UPDATE

Thanks for the advice Ian
I can view the data string in hex format using my homebrew ir system and can see were some bits change value (toggle bit) but cant relate this to homevision. Most buttons are working ,one thing i noticed was that i had to give long presses for chan up or down so maybe relearn codes (again) or try multiple transmissions.

Best of luck.

Could you not modify or even write a quick PIC program to measure the IR signal as seen by a TSOP (i.e. a demodulated signal). You could then output this to serial and see the differences. They should be quite obvious once you figure out how to interpret what you are looking at.

Thoughts?

I cannot help as none of my RC5 controls use the toggle bit as far as I can tell. They are not TV or vid controls though. I don't know the exact why and how of the toggle bit but it is something to do with differentiating between continuous button presses and multiple quick button presses. There must be a timeout facility on the receiving kit as well otherwise it would not work half of the time. This would probably be in the sub 1 second region.

Hi Ian
Thanks ,yes things are progressing slowly . My friend is doing the pcb so hopefully he,ll get it right first go...

I do have CRO  but find it hard to sync it on the signal . A storage CRO would be nice. Ive tried saving 2 copies of each button most appear to work but not reliable enough , the power button gets detected by hv as the mute button . Ive relearned several times still no luck . Im sure  someone else must have learned Rc5 codes.......
