Title: Message
I have now had a chance to check out the Nevo IR on my ipaq 3970:
Had a rocky start getting codes for my kit..
You need to register at a site called mynevo.com (need ipaq s/n etc.)
then there are 3 main download areas Going to the device codes one, you choose device type and brand.
There is an auto download link which is supposed to put the codes in the right folder so ipaq picks them on next sync.
After I downloaded the 1st lot, I could not see the devices/brands I wanted /downloaded.
I tried a couple of standard ir brands from the pre-loaded device libraries that came already installed - Sony TV worked fine.
Initial trouble with my Denon AV rec. but some changes to the selection under the brand fixed that.
When you pick a device and brand then there are several selections (3 to 10 depending on brand) and you can pick and test different selection of IR codes for that brand before accepting it for the proposed device - there is a on/off , vol., or channel up depending on the device type.
It all seems to work -- but the range is nowhere near the ProntoPro or even mono pronto.
e.g One of the rooms where I keep my pc and some AV kit is a large top floor with mansard type ceiling with a L shaped sitting area
Using the pronto or the original device remotes, I have no problem bouncing the IR off the ceiling to my AV kit. Not so with ipaq Nevo.
You do need a good line of site and not much tilt to get the signal to the device.
It works sometimes but not enough for me use it in preference to Pronto.
The other thing is the tilt...
Given you are using a stylus you need to hold the ipaq a little like a book, i.e. pointing skyward. This seems to not work well the IR emitter on the ipaq, it likes to be pointed at the IR receiver.
Don't get me wrong, I am happy enough with it as an add on to my arsenal of handheld control device, but I think the the pronto pro owners will not feel that they spent their money badly.
X10 IR signals work fine, and the favourites (channel logos) and activity (macro) seem OK but have not tried any of them in depth.
There are some nice looking buttons and graphics on the web site. The channel logos are all US ones, but they are bitmaps so some editing should allow UK logos.

There other thing is the whole damn Bluetooth thing....:-(
I have a 6310i and can not get the thing to talk to my 3com USB Bt or the ipaq properly.
It works fine using the wap browser via GPRS but it keeps connecting and disconnecting from the phone when I try to use GPRS with the ipaq. It's really really winding me up now..The whole point was to pickup emails on the go with an always on connection.
Alas not to be in my case :-(
It just will not work (or may be I am a complete daaaahhhh) but I can't see how the thing or the standard will be taken up by the masses if it involves so much hassle.
Any suggestions or help would gratefully received.

I am no tech reviewer (as you can see!!) but will happily do my best to give answers on the device.

All in, I'm perfectly happy with mine...... it gets used every day,
syncs to my desktop at work and laptop at home, and I'm just about to
start using it as an MP3 player, and thinking about getting the IR
thingmy to use it as a second Pronto.
