Aaah, sorry.  I quite liked the look of Gnome but managed to screw it
some
way.  
Using KDE now, but have another user where I ocassionally mess around with
Gnome.  I think there are some improvements in performance with KDE
shipped
with Mdk 8.1 and 8.2 over what I use.  Given choice I'd probably go
with
Gnome 
but for the way I use the system there is little diff, so little its not
worth the
time to sort out Gnome. fyi went to Opera as browser, and like it .. real
fast.
