Is my Pronto dead?

All of a sudden the screen on my Pronto has become badly streaked. It
still works, but it is very difficult to read at any contrast setting
with random bands of dark and light patches running from top to
bottom. The battery indicator is still showing maximum (and the
batteries are pretty new) so I don't think it is a power problem. To
my knowledge it hasn't been dropped, and anyway the lounge is
carpeted so unless it fell from a great height (more than just
knocked of the arm of a chair) I wouldn't expect any problems. The
unit is probably 2 years old. Has anyone seen anything similar, if so
is there anything I can do about it or do I need to start saving for
a replacement (or drop it onto something hard and claim on house
insurance)?

Regards

Graham
