Right them, thanks for that. I have now disabled the smtp service and we have got rid of the nasty error about ports being in use. One last one though....
 
In the drop down for connection types I now only have LAN listed. I have two dialups configured and would expect these to show. What am I missing whilst trying to set the connect to Internet via my modem.........

If it’s a default install then possibly you have IIS installed and as default that would include the SMTP server which runs on Port 25.

 

If so uninstall or disable the SMTP Service.

Do a netstat -a in a command box and look for ports 25 and 100 in the
listed as LISTENING - that means something is already on that address
and port. Telnet to the port and most things answer with what they
are..
