YES!!!

The home owner is solely responsible for the welfare of any occupants of the the property, regardless of their right to be there. If you implement
a device which prevents them from leaving your property, they can have you charged with false imprisonment.

If the dog bites or otherwise injures the intruder, it will be destroyed and again you could be charged or sued.

Personally I would like to implement a system based on the sight and track systems from advanced gunships. Burglar doesn't get his finger on
the scanner within 30 secs of the the request and his heat signature doesn't match an authorised user ... out pops the chain gun and, well ... :-)

Incidentally, I don't agree with the legal inadequacies in protecting your property ... don't know if my idea gave that away or not.

"No officer, I don't have any guns in the house. It must have been a passing Apache. Always testing those things round this way. Yes it was
nice of them to come and replace the window and remove all signs of the broken glass they must have shot through."
