Go to www.tivocommunity.com or (for slightly less biased views)
http://forum.digitalspy.co.uk/board/index.php for lots of opinions on this.  Sky
people will wave their flag, TiVo people will wave theirs, though usually more
vigorously!

My reasons for getting TiVo over Sky:

* Series linking works
* boxes are upgradeable (read 'hackable')
* Not owned by Sky, didn't want to pay them any more money (although they do
handle the subs for TiVo)
* Can pay for a lifetime sub
* suggestions are quite useful
* Box was cheaper
* User forum is very active

On the downside it's not got DD5.1, but then that's what I've got the DVD player
for, so it doesn't bother me (much).

Ok its another newbie question. Which should I buy and why. At the moment I
am running ITV digital for as long as it goes on. We hardly ever watch
anything other than the free to air stuff, so we are unlikely to go for a
full sky subscription. Comments please
