Possibly for the same reason that a strip of 12 5A "choccy block"=
connectors costs about =A32.99 from Homebase but 30p from my local Trade counter...

Chuck one of those "horrible industrial" plugs on a US style stri= pblock
available from laser or letsautomate IIRC and you should be fine...
