Graham,

Unfortunately what you need to connect the two is a processor. ie - something to decode the digital stream on the single output, and turn it into the 6 separate analogue inputs on amp.

If it's a "integrated home cinema amp", made by someone like Yamaha, then it will have this processor built in, and the appropriate input socket.

If it's, however, a "home cinema POWER amp", then it's expecting that you have a separate processor, either built into the DVD player, or in a separate box.

What is the make and model of the amp?

Regards,

Mark

I need some help connecting a friend's DVD player and HomeCinema amp.
On the back on the DVD player it has Optical and Coax 5.1ch Outputs, however
on the back on the HomeCinema Amp, it only has 6 phono sockets for 5.1ch
(ie. Front/Rear (L&R), Centre and SubWoofer).

My question is: Does a cable exist to connect the two, ie. Coax -> 6 phono.

Cheers
Graham
