Hi Kevin,
Just checked my local pcworld, and the prices
are
still £100+,
Could you possibly picky one up for me as
well,
stock permitting of course.
BTW, my cf-01 has been credited in full by the
insurance as of yesterday.
Do you have any need for the cradle? Or know
anyone
who would.
Its boxed up ready to go.
Jason

switch for £50
In that case then, what happens in pre-OS situations like BIOS
settings
or selecting a dual-boot/safe-boot load?
Or even managing my Smoothwall box?
Steve
One more point - the OS running on the machines you wish to control
must support USB as well as your machines having USB ports. You can not use
these switches if you are running Windows 95 or NT4 . I have seen patches
for these OS's to allow USB support and I believe a late SP for NT4 may
have
added support but you are one your own here as I think it is a bit flakey
(immature in Belkins words) . However 98, 98SE, 2000,
ME, and Mac OS 8.x or later are fine.
The cables ARE expensive from PCW - £20 for the video
cables and £14 for the USB's - these are available a lot cheaper elsewhere
but you need to be careful on video cable quality.
Kevin
Those who asked will have theirs on Tuesday stock permitting - I am
not getting cables for anyone though .. (right ?)

Sorry Aashram ( did I get that right ? ) - I can't
say for sure - I don't have one of those to test and all I can suggest is
to have a look on Belkins web site - and the spec/support pages. I
haven't even had a chance to plug mine in yet. If I was to
hazard a guess I think you will be ok as it must be a compliant USB spec
device but don't count on this. The wireless bit is probably of no
significance here.
KEVIN !!
Thanks keith, i will check my local
store.
Can you use the wireless usb microsoft
mouse with
the kvm switch ?

KVM switch for £50
Seeing
as there's often posts here on KVM switches and cheap sources I
have just noticed that P C World are
doing the Belkin 4 port Omniview USB KVM switch for £47.97 at the
moment - that's half price according to their stickers although
last time I looked at these I am sure they were £129 or £149 in
there.
Includes a 4 port USB hub and also a USB to PS/2 covertor.
Note these are USB switches - they attach to your PC via
a monitor and USB cable although you can control all the PC's
with either a USB or PS/2 keyboard/mouse as there is a convertor
built in. You can mix PC's and Mac's and probably any other
platform that supports USB I guess. On some boxes there is also a
free USB three button mouse included - this is marked via a
sticker on the outside. No cables are included so you need 4 USB
cables and 4 video cables - I suspect the in house recommended
Belkin ones are expensive though.
Seems
good value - ideal for monitoring a bank of MultiTainers
!
