Well, I hope for those involved that it doesn't go the way of Acorn:
Acorn's holding in ARM Ltd (its former subsidiary) was worth more
than Acorn itself; to sell the ARM shares straight would have
incurred a massive tax hit.

The CEO came up with a great wheeze - run down the company, sell it
cheap to a merchant bank, allow them to break it up and sell off the
bits, some creative accounting to liquidate the shares, a bunch of
redundancies, and keep the design division for yourself. Then, sell
that bit for a huge sum to the Americans...
