And they work fine with IE..

What was the logic BTW of making DOS using \ and Browsers using /

Is your web browser IE? It doesn't so much support them as to
autocorrect them.

The only problem is causes is  email programs such as Microsoft
Outlook
won't recognise them as URLs and therefore not make them clickable.
This
means someone has to copy and paste the link, which can be a tad
frustrating :-)
